Velour Crusher (Supreme exclusive)
About the original
The Supreme x Lacoste Velour Crusher is a crushable bucket-style hat in cotton-blend velour with Lacoste's embroidered crocodile and a Supreme box logo. Lacoste was founded in 1933 by tennis champion René Lacoste, the seven-time Grand Slam winner nicknamed Le Crocodile after a luggage bet during a Davis Cup tour, and the brand became the first to put a logo on the outside of a garment when the crocodile appeared on the L.12.12 polo. The L.12.12 polo's name is a code for its construction: L for Lacoste, 1 for the cotton, 2 for short sleeves, 12 the prototype number. Velour bucket hats are not a regular Lacoste catalog item; this piece was made for Supreme's Spring/Summer 2018 capsule and was not sold through Lacoste retail.
About LACOSTE
Lacoste S.A. is a French apparel company founded in 1933 by tennis champion Rene Lacoste and textile manufacturer Andre Gillier in Troyes. Lacoste designed the L.12.12 polo shirt in 1933 using petit pique cotton to replace the long-sleeved woven shirts worn on court, and the crocodile embroidered on its chest is considered the first visible logo on a consumer garment. The company expanded into footwear, fragrance, and leather goods, and its core tennis-adjacent sportswear remains in continuous production. Supreme and Lacoste have released multiple co-branded seasonal collections since 2017 spanning polos, track sets, and bags.
