About the original

The Yohji Yamamoto Hooded Sweatshirt is a heavyweight cotton pullover hoodie printed with an all-over graphic of Yamamoto's hand-drawn ink portraits and a vertical "Supreme" script in red down the sleeve. Yohji Yamamoto founded his label in Tokyo in 1972 and debuted in Paris in 1981 alongside Rei Kawakubo, defining Japanese avant-garde fashion through deconstructed silhouettes and black-dominant palettes; the face drawings are from his own sketchbook archive. The FW20 collab was released on September 17, 2020 in white, orange, and olive colorways, all with the same face-print artwork exclusive to this collaboration. It retailed at $198.

About Yohji Yamamoto

Yohji Yamamoto is a Japanese fashion designer born in Tokyo in 1943 and trained at Bunka Fashion College. He launched his women's label Y's in 1977 and showed his first Paris collection under his own name in 1981 alongside Rei Kawakubo, a debut credited with introducing deconstructed, predominantly black tailoring to European fashion. Yamamoto founded Y-3 with Adidas in 2002, one of the first sustained sportswear-luxury partnerships, and continues to design his main line, Y's, and Pour Homme collections. His work is held in the collections of the Met and the V&A. Supreme collaborated with Yohji Yamamoto on outerwear and tailoring.
