Hellraiser is a British horror franchise based on Clive Barker's 1986 novella The Hellbound Heart. Barker wrote and directed the 1987 film, which introduced the Cenobites and the Lament Configuration puzzle box designed by 18th-century occultist Philip LeMarchand within the fiction. Doug Bradley played the lead Cenobite, nicknamed Pinhead by fans and crew, across eight films. The original was produced for $1 million and grossed $30 million; the franchise has since expanded to ten films, comics, and a 2022 reboot. Barker reclaimed U.S. rights in 2021.
