Pearl is a Japanese musical instrument manufacturer founded in 1946 by Katsumi Yanagisawa in Sumida, Tokyo. The company began producing music stands in a 300-square-foot shed, shifted to drums in 1950, and incorporated as Pearl Musical Instrument Company in 1953. Its 1966 President Series, developed with input from Art Blakey and J.C. Heard, established Pearl as a professional drum maker, and its Masters Maple and Session Studio Select lines are staples in recording studios. Pearl also manufactures flutes, marching percussion, and timpani. Supreme issued a co-branded Pearl Roadshow drum kit as part of its instrument collaborations.
