Schmincke is a German fine art materials manufacturer founded in 1881 by Hermann Schmincke and Josef Horadam in Düsseldorf, now based in Erkrath. Horadam, a chemist, developed the formulations that still bear his name on the company's flagship HORADAM watercolor line. The company produces watercolors, oil paints, gouache, pastels, and acrylics, all manufactured in Germany using single-pigment formulations ground to fine particle size.
