Thermos is a vacuum-insulated container brand whose origins trace to 1904, when German glassblowers Reinhold Burger and Albert Aschenbrenner commercialized Sir James Dewar's vacuum flask invention and founded Thermos GmbH in Berlin. The name, chosen through a public competition, comes from the Greek word for heat. The company's flasks accompanied early polar expeditions and the Wright brothers' test flights, and the trademark became so ubiquitous that American courts ruled it generic in 1963. Thermos LLC, now based in Illinois, manufactures stainless steel bottles, food jars, and lunch kits. Supreme collaborated with Thermos on co-branded insulated bottles.
