Tsubota Pearl is a Japanese lighter and metal-goods maker founded in 1952 by Hiroshi Tsubota in Tokyo. The company specializes in refillable flint-and-wick petrol lighters and small everyday objects built to be refilled and repaired rather than discarded. Its Hard Edge lighter, introduced in 1998, replaced the usual rounded lighter shape with an angular case in heat-resistant polycarbonate, its case, cap, and tank joined by a hinge mechanism rather than glue or solder. The name Pearl references Japan's first cultured pearls — early models carried pearl inlays. Supreme collaborated with Tsubota Pearl on a co-branded Hard Edge petrol lighter.
