About the original

The Champion Classic Coaches Jacket is a lightweight nylon shell cut in the traditional coach's silhouette: point collar, snap-front placket, side entry pockets, elastic cuffs, and a drawstring hem. A polyester taffeta lining keeps the shell slick over layers, and the left chest carries a screen-printed Champion script logo. Champion was founded in Rochester, New York in 1919 by Abe and Bill Feinbloom and introduced the reverse-weave sweatshirt and modern hooded sweatshirt to athletics in the 1930s; the standard Classic Coaches Jacket retails around $50 through Amazon and championstore.com. The FW18 Supreme collab adds a co-branded woven label at the left chest and retailed at $168 in four colorways.

About Champion

Champion is an American sportswear company founded in 1919 by Simon Feinbloom and his sons William and Abraham in Rochester, New York, originally as Knickerbocker Knitting Mills. The company supplied athletic uniforms to the University of Michigan in the 1920s and to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point shortly after. Champion developed the reverse-weave sweatshirt in 1938, a construction that runs the fabric crosswise to limit shrinkage, and produced the first hooded sweatshirts for cold-weather laborers and athletes. HanesBrands has owned the label since 2006. Supreme has collaborated with Champion on co-branded hoodies, crewnecks, and sweatpants since the early 2000s.
