About the original
The North Face Base Layer L/S Top is a long-sleeve technical underlayer designed for cold-weather layering under shells and insulated jackets. The North Face was founded in 1966 in Berkeley, California, by Douglas Tompkins and Kenneth Klopp, originally as a climbing and backpacking retail shop before moving into manufacturing in 1968. Base layers sit at the bottom of the company's three-layer cold-weather system, moving moisture off the skin while retaining warmth during active use. The SS22 Supreme collaboration is a hooded variant of the base layer silhouette with a plain body, The North Face half-dome logo at the front of the hood, and an oversized cutout SUPREME wordmark across the top of the hood. Released February 17, 2022 at $98 in black, navy, and green. Produced exclusively for Supreme; the hooded cut and hood wordmark are not part of The North Face's in-line base layer range.
About The North Face
The North Face is an American outdoor apparel and equipment company founded in 1966 by Douglas and Susie Tompkins as a mountaineering retail store in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood. The company introduced the Sierra down parka in 1968 and the geodesic Oval Intention tent in 1975, and its Nuptse down jacket, released in 1992, is named for the 7,861-meter Himalayan peak. The brand now produces the Summit Series, Steep Tech, and Denali fleece lines under VF Corporation ownership. Supreme and The North Face have run one of streetwear's longest ongoing collaborations, releasing seasonal capsules each spring and fall since 2007.
