About the original

The Champion Ameritage Dad Cap is a low-profile cotton twill cap with a curved brim and an adjustable strapback, carrying Champion's embroidered 'C' logo on the front. Champion began in 1919 as Knickerbocker Knitting Mills in Rochester, New York, founded by the Feinbloom family, and built its early business supplying sweatshirts and warm-up gear to American college teams. The same company is credited with sewing the first hooded sweatshirt in the 1930s and with the cross-grain Reverse Weave fabric it patented in 1938. Unlike those fleece pieces, the cap uses no technical construction: it is plain twill carrying the same 'C' mark as the rest of Champion's athletic wear. Supreme has re-released it across seasons.

About Champion

Champion is an American sportswear company founded in 1919 by Simon Feinbloom and his sons William and Abraham in Rochester, New York, originally as Knickerbocker Knitting Mills. The company supplied athletic uniforms to the University of Michigan in the 1920s and to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point shortly after. Champion developed the reverse-weave sweatshirt in 1938, a construction that runs the fabric crosswise to limit shrinkage, and produced the first hooded sweatshirts for cold-weather laborers and athletes. HanesBrands has owned the label since 2006. Supreme has collaborated with Champion on co-branded hoodies, crewnecks, and sweatpants since the early 2000s.
