About the original
The Kaweco AL Sport Ballpoint Pen is a pocket pen machined from solid anodized aluminum, about 105 mm closed and 14 mm across, with a push-button mechanism driving a standard D1 refill. Its octagonal body follows Kaweco's 1935 Sport design. Kaweco was founded in 1883 in Heidelberg, Germany as the Heidelberger Federhalterfabrik and began branding pens Kaweco in 1889; the Sport pocket pen line first appeared in 1911, made for travelers, officers, and sportsmen who wanted a full-size pen in a small format. The aluminum AL Sport carries that pocket format in a metal body. Supreme's version is the standard AL Sport ballpoint carrying box-logo branding.
About Kaweco
Kaweco is a German writing instrument manufacturer founded in 1883 in Heidelberg as the Heidelberger Federhalter Fabrik. Heinrich Koch and Rudolph Weber took over in 1889, and the brand name Kaweco is built from KOch, WEber and COmpany. The first Kaweco safety fountain pen launched in 1909, and by the 1920s the company employed 600 people producing 130,000 fountain pens a year, with subsidiaries in Berlin, Paris, Zurich, and Vienna. The name and tooling were acquired in 1929 by Knust, Woringen and Grube of Wiesloch. Kaweco's pocket-sized Sport model, introduced in 1935, remains its defining product. Supreme collaborated with Kaweco on a Sport fountain pen.
