ChapStick is an American lip balm brand developed in the late 1880s by Charles Browne Fleet, a pharmacist who ran a family pharmacy in Lynchburg, Virginia from 1869. Fleet's original wickless, tin-foil-wrapped product sold poorly locally. In 1912 he sold the formula to John Morton for five dollars; Morton's wife poured the balm into brass tubes and molded it into sticks, and sales expanded nationally. The current waxy-stick format and push-up tube date from that redesign. ChapStick has passed through A.H. Robins, Wyeth, Pfizer, and GSK, and is now owned by Haleon. Supreme released a co-branded ChapStick in 2021.
