Colgate is an American consumer goods brand founded in 1806 by William Colgate, an English immigrant, as a starch, soap, and candle factory on Dutch Street in lower Manhattan. The company introduced its first toothpaste in 1873, sold in jars, and shipped the first toothpaste in a tube in 1896 under the name Ribbon Dental Cream, invented by dentist Washington Sheffield. Colgate merged with Palmolive-Peet in 1928 to form Colgate-Palmolive, now headquartered in New York. Colgate toothpaste is sold in over 200 countries and is the global category leader by volume. Supreme used the Colgate logo and tube graphics on co-branded toothpaste boxes.
