Giro is an American helmet and cycling apparel company founded in 1985 by Jim Gentes in Scotts Valley, California. Gentes prototyped the original Giro helmet, the Prolight, in his garage and later equipped Greg LeMond when he won the 1989 Tour de France. The brand now produces road, mountain, and snow helmets, goggles, shoes, and apparel, with patents in MIPS-equipped impact protection and aerodynamic shells. Bell Sports acquired Giro in 1996, and the brand currently sits within Revelyst, headquartered in Irvine, California. Supreme has collaborated with Giro on co-branded cycling helmets.
