About the original

The Giro Syntax MIPS is a road cycling helmet with a polycarbonate in-mold shell, EPS impact foam liner, 25 wind-tunnel vents, and the Roc Loc 5 Air retention system. Giro was founded in 1985 in Santa Cruz, California by Jim Gentes, who took the first prototype to the Long Beach bike show and came back with $100,000 in orders. The MIPS slip-plane system is licensed from the Swedish research institute and is designed to reduce rotational forces in an angled impact. Supreme's version uses the same helmet with a 3M Reflective logo print.

About Giro

Giro is an American helmet and cycling apparel company founded in 1985 by Jim Gentes in Scotts Valley, California. Gentes prototyped the original Giro helmet, the Prolight, in his garage and later equipped Greg LeMond when he won the 1989 Tour de France. The brand now produces road, mountain, and snow helmets, goggles, shoes, and apparel, with patents in MIPS-equipped impact protection and aerodynamic shells. Bell Sports acquired Giro in 1996, and the brand currently sits within Revelyst, headquartered in Irvine, California. Supreme has collaborated with Giro on co-branded cycling helmets.
