ICEE is an American frozen carbonated beverage brand invented in 1958 by Omar Knedlik, a Dairy Queen owner in Coffeyville, Kansas, who began freezing bottled sodas after his fountain machine broke. Knedlik partnered with the John E. Mitchell Company in Dallas to develop a dedicated machine, receiving a patent in 1960. The block-letter logo with hanging icicles, designed by local artist Ruth E. Taylor, has remained unchanged. 7-Eleven licensed the technology in 1965 to launch Slurpee, and J&J Snack Foods acquired The Icee Company in 1987. Supreme has collaborated with ICEE on a co-branded merchandise piece.
