Medicom Toy is a Japanese designer toy company founded in 1996 by Tatsuhiko Akashi in Ebisu, Tokyo. Akashi left a computer industry job to make vinyl figures, launching the LEGO-inspired Kubrick line before introducing the Be@rbrick on May 27, 2001, originally given to attendees of the World Character Convention in Tokyo. The bear form was chosen in part because the teddy bear was celebrating its 100th anniversary. Medicom produces Be@rbricks in standardized 100%, 400%, and 1000% sizes through collaborations with artists, brands, and film properties. Supreme has issued Be@rbricks with the company for multiple seasons.
