Ortlieb Sportartikel is a German waterproof bag manufacturer founded on April 1, 1982, by Hartmut Ortlieb in Nuremberg, and headquartered in Heilsbronn since 1997. The founder, a cyclist frustrated by wet gear on tour, produced the first panniers by hand from truck tarpaulin. In 1984 Ortlieb introduced high-frequency seam welding, which fuses PVC-coated fabric into a waterproof bond without stitching, and the technique remains the company's signature construction. The line covers bicycle panniers, handlebar bags, dry bags, backpacks, and travel luggage, all manufactured in Germany. Supreme's collaboration with Ortlieb applies the box logo to its welded panniers and dry bags.
