Steiff is a German plush toy manufacturer founded in 1880 by Margarete Steiff in Giengen, Württemberg. Steiff began making fabric elephant pincushions before her nephew Richard introduced a jointed mohair bear at the 1903 Leipzig Toy Fair, the first commercial teddy bear, named after Theodore Roosevelt. The company produced one million bears by 1907 and introduced the Knopf im Ohr (Button in Ear) trademark in 1904 to deter counterfeits. Steiff still manufactures in Giengen and remains the reference standard for collectible plush. Supreme has collaborated with Steiff on box-logo hooded teddy bears in heather grey and black, and an E.T. plush figure for SS25.
