Wilderness Systems is an American kayak manufacturer founded in 1986 by Andy Zimmerman and John Sheppard in High Point, North Carolina. The founders left a furniture business to build fiberglass touring kayaks and shifted to rotomolded plastic boats around 1992, broadening the sport beyond composite-only buyers. North Carolina named the company Entrepreneurial Company of the Year in 1996. Wilderness Systems merged with Mad River Canoe in 1998 and now operates under Confluence Outdoor, with the Tarpon and ATAK fishing kayaks among its core models. Supreme has collaborated with Wilderness Systems on a co-branded kayak.
