The Dr. Martens 1461 is the three-eyelet Oxford the company introduced on April 1, 1961 in Wollaston, Northamptonshire — one year to the day after the 1460 boot, and named for that launch date. It is Goodyear-welted with the signature yellow welt stitch, a Smooth leather upper, and the grooved, air-cushioned AirWair sole, and it retails for $160 in black. For this Fall/Winter 2022 three-way collaboration with Yohji Yamamoto, Supreme printed Yamamoto's watercolor artwork across the standard 1461's leather upper and added a Yohji Yamamoto signature and Supreme box logo at the heel. The shoe underneath is the unaltered production 1461; the collaboration is a graphic applied to it.
About Dr. Martens
Dr. Martens is a British footwear brand whose air-cushioned sole was invented in 1947 by Dr. Klaus Maertens and Dr. Herbert Funck in Seeshaupt, Germany, after Maertens rebuilt his army boots with a rubber sole made from reclaimed tires.
