AL Sport Mechanical Pencil 0.7mm
About the original
The Kaweco AL Sport Mechanical Pencil 0.7mm is a pocket-format writing instrument machined from anodized aluminum, measuring 10.5 centimeters capped and 13 centimeters posted, with a push-button lead advance and the octagonal cap profile that has defined the Sport series since Kaweco introduced it in 1935. Kaweco has manufactured pens and pencils in Nuremberg, Germany, since 1883, when the Heidelberg Pen Factory was founded by Luce and Enßlen; the current ownership relaunched the dormant brand in 1994 around a revived Sport lineup. The AL Sport is the metal-body version of that design, retailing at around $72. The FW2018 Supreme collab is the same pencil with a printed box logo on the cap and barrel.
About Kaweco
Kaweco is a German writing instrument manufacturer founded in 1883 in Heidelberg as the Heidelberger Federhalter Fabrik. Heinrich Koch and Rudolph Weber took over in 1889, and the brand name Kaweco is built from KOch, WEber and COmpany. The first Kaweco safety fountain pen launched in 1909, and by the 1920s the company employed 600 people producing 130,000 fountain pens a year, with subsidiaries in Berlin, Paris, Zurich, and Vienna. The name and tooling were acquired in 1929 by Knust, Woringen and Grube of Wiesloch. Kaweco's pocket-sized Sport model, introduced in 1935, remains its defining product. Supreme collaborated with Kaweco on a Sport fountain pen.
