About the original
The Levi's Type I Trucker Jacket descends from the 506XX, the boxy pleated denim jacket Levi Strauss & Co. standardized in the early 1900s and the blueprint every trucker jacket since has copied. Levi's was founded in San Francisco in 1853 and patented the riveted garment with tailor Jacob Davis in 1873; the Type I, with its single chest pocket, buckle-back cinch, and knife pleats flanking the button placket, was the house's first true jacket. The current reissue runs in rigid cotton denim and retails around $98. Supreme's Spring/Summer 2013 version keeps the Type I cut in a slimmer Supreme fit, offered in cotton twill and hickory-stripe denim rather than standard indigo.
