About the original

Playboy was launched in Chicago in 1953 by Hugh Hefner with an $8,000 stake raised from family and investors. The debut issue featured Marilyn Monroe and sold out in weeks. Playboy Enterprises built a magazine, a club chain, and a global apparel licensing business around the rabbit-head logo designed by Art Paul in 1953. The Supreme/Playboy Rugby is a long-sleeve cotton-pique rugby shirt built for the FW2017 capsule with a twill woven collar, three-button placket, and contrast color-block panels across the chest and sleeves. An embroidered Playboy rabbit-head sits at the left chest with a co-branded Supreme/Playboy woven label at the back neck. Released in white, navy, and black at $148 as a Supreme exclusive; Playboy does not manufacture a rugby shirt of this cut under its own name.

About Playboy

Playboy is an American men's magazine founded in 1953 by Hugh Hefner in Chicago, Illinois, produced from his Hyde Park kitchen with $8,000 in seed capital. The first issue carried no date (Hefner was unsure there would be a second) and led with a Marilyn Monroe centerfold from a previously published calendar shoot. The Rabbit Head logo, designed by art director Art Paul for the second issue, became one of the most-licensed marks of the twentieth century. Playboy paused its print magazine in 2020 and now operates as a licensing business under PLBY Group. Supreme has collaborated with Playboy on Rabbit Head T-shirts, hoodies, and outerwear.
