About the original

The Schott NYC 564 Leather Overcoat is a mid-thigh-length coat in pebbled cowhide leather, cut with a spread collar, four-button front, diagonal welt pockets, and poly twill lining. Schott has been manufacturing leather outerwear in New York since Irving Schott founded the company in 1913 and patented the zippered motorcycle jacket — the Perfecto — in 1928. The 564 is made in Schott's Union, New Jersey factory, part of their long-running line of heavier cowhide car coats and delivery jackets. The Supreme FW19 version reproduces the 564 silhouette in leather with a Supreme interior label; construction and hardware match Schott's own production. The current 564 retails for $1,185 direct from Schott.

About Schott NYC

Schott NYC is an American outerwear manufacturer founded in 1913 by brothers Irving and Jack Schott on Manhattan's Lower East Side, originally making fur-lined raincoats sold door-to-door. In 1928 Irving Schott designed the Perfecto, the first leather jacket built with a zipper, selling the original at a Long Island Harley-Davidson distributor for $5.50. The off-center asymmetric zip became the template for the genre, worn by Marlon Brando in The Wild One and later by the Ramones and the Sex Pistols. The Schott family still operates the company from a factory in Union, New Jersey. Supreme has collaborated with Schott NYC on Perfecto jackets, varsity jackets, and N-3B parkas.
