About the original
The Schott NYC 740N is the company's version of the U.S. Navy pea coat: a 32-ounce Melton wool double-breasted coat with the regulation slash handwarmer pockets, a wide notch collar, and fouled-anchor buttons, its interior label a reproduction of the military 'U.S. 740N Pea Jacket' spec tag. Schott NYC, founded in 1913 on New York's Lower East Side, has built Melton wool peacoats to this pattern since the mid-20th century and still Union-makes the 740 in the USA, where it retails for $450. Supreme's Fall/Winter 2015 version keeps the wool shell and anchor buttons but lines the body in leopard-print faux fur and adds a checkerboard box-logo pin at the collar.
About Schott NYC
Schott NYC is an American outerwear manufacturer founded in 1913 by brothers Irving and Jack Schott on Manhattan's Lower East Side, originally making fur-lined raincoats sold door-to-door. In 1928 Irving Schott designed the Perfecto, the first leather jacket built with a zipper, selling the original at a Long Island Harley-Davidson distributor for $5.50.
