About the original
The Supreme/Smurfs GORE-TEX Shell Jacket is a two-layer GORE-TEX waterproof shell printed with an all-over cartoon of Smurf characters painting, planting, and crowning a box logo, with a co-branded GORE-TEX and Smurfs patch on the hood. The Smurfs (Les Schtroumpfs) were created by Belgian cartoonist Peyo in 1958 for the comic Johan et Pirlouit and licensed globally through IMPS in Brussels. GORE-TEX is W.L. Gore & Associates' ePTFE waterproof-breathable membrane, introduced in 1976 and the industry standard for shell outerwear. The jacket released in August 2020 in black, bright yellow, and woodland camo at $398 and is a Supreme-exclusive graphic — not based on any pre-existing Smurfs or GORE-TEX product.
About Smurfs
The Smurfs are a Belgian comics property created in 1958 by cartoonist Pierre Culliford, known as Peyo, in Brussels. The blue, three-apple-tall characters first appeared as supporting cast in the comic strip Johan et Pirlouit before getting their own series, Les Schtroumpfs, published by Dupuis. The property expanded globally through the Hanna-Barbera animated series that aired on NBC from 1981 to 1989, followed by feature films from Sony Pictures Animation beginning in 2011. The franchise is now managed by IMPS, the licensing company founded by Peyo's estate. Supreme has released apparel featuring Smurfs artwork under license.
