About the original
The Supreme Smurfs GORE-TEX Shell Jacket is a hooded technical shell built with GORE-TEX, the waterproof-breathable laminate developed by W.L. Gore & Associates and patented in 1976. The face fabric is screen-printed with a centered grid of Smurf characters arranged around the Supreme box logo, licensed from IMPS, the Belgian rights-holder for Peyo's Smurfs (Les Schtroumpfs), which Peyo created in 1958. The jacket has fully taped seams, an adjustable hood with drawcord, two-way front zip, zippered hand pockets, and adjustable cuffs. Released for FW20 in multiple colorways. GORE-TEX licensing is granted only to manufacturers that meet Gore's seam-sealing and durability standards, which is why the laminate appears across Supreme's outerwear program.
About Smurfs
The Smurfs are a Belgian comics property created in 1958 by cartoonist Pierre Culliford, known as Peyo, in Brussels. The blue, three-apple-tall characters first appeared as supporting cast in the comic strip Johan et Pirlouit before getting their own series, Les Schtroumpfs, published by Dupuis. The property expanded globally through the Hanna-Barbera animated series that aired on NBC from 1981 to 1989, followed by feature films from Sony Pictures Animation beginning in 2011. The franchise is now managed by IMPS, the licensing company founded by Peyo's estate. Supreme has released apparel featuring Smurfs artwork under license.
