Smurfs Character Tee (Supreme exclusive)
About the original
The FW20 Supreme x Smurfs Tee is a short-sleeve cotton tee printed with a single oversized line-art Smurf character filling the front from shoulder to hem in black ink on white, with a small Supreme tab at the neck. The Smurfs were created in 1958 by Belgian cartoonist Peyo (Pierre Culliford) as supporting characters in his Johan and Peewit comic series before spinning off into their own books, a 1980s Hanna-Barbera animated series, and the Sony Pictures film franchise. The FW20 Supreme capsule included multiple tees, a hooded sweatshirt, and a skate deck set using licensed artwork from the original comics.
About Smurfs
The Smurfs are a Belgian comics property created in 1958 by cartoonist Pierre Culliford, known as Peyo, in Brussels. The blue, three-apple-tall characters first appeared as supporting cast in the comic strip Johan et Pirlouit before getting their own series, Les Schtroumpfs, published by Dupuis. The property expanded globally through the Hanna-Barbera animated series that aired on NBC from 1981 to 1989, followed by feature films from Sony Pictures Animation beginning in 2011. The franchise is now managed by IMPS, the licensing company founded by Peyo's estate. Supreme has released apparel featuring Smurfs artwork under license.
