Original — Timberland
6-Inch Premium Waterproof Boot
About the original
The Timberland 6-Inch Premium Waterproof Boot descends from the Original 8-inch waterproof boot introduced in 1973 by the Abington Shoe Company in Massachusetts, where Nathan Swartz (who bought into Abington in 1952) and his sons developed an injection-molded rubber sole fused directly to a waterproof nubuck leather upper without stitching. The 6-inch silhouette followed in 1976 and has been in continuous production since, with a padded leather collar, brass or gold-tone hex eyelets, and a lug outsole. The company was renamed The Timberland Company in 1978, and the boot still references the original 10061 pattern. The FW25 Supreme version uses the same 6-inch silhouette but replaces the single-panel nubuck with a debossed multi-color patchwork upper stitched together from contrasting hides, each panel embossed with the Timberland tree logo, and adds a red Supreme tab at the heel.
About Timberland
Timberland is an American footwear and apparel company founded in 1952 by Nathan Swartz as the Abington Shoe Company in Abington, Massachusetts, and later headquartered in Stratham, New Hampshire. In 1973 the company introduced the first injection-molded waterproof leather boot, branded as the Timberland, and adopted the name as its own. The wheat-colored 6-Inch Premium became a staple of 1990s hip-hop fashion, construction trades, and New York street dress. The company, now part of VF Corporation, also produces the Earthkeepers and PRO lines. Supreme and Timberland have collaborated on seasonal footwear and outerwear since 2002.
