About the original
The Vans Sk8-Hi debuted in 1978 as the Style 38, the first Vans high-top to add a padded ankle collar over the brand's canvas-and-suede skate upper and vulcanized waffle outsole, which Vans has produced in Southern California since the company opened in Anaheim in 1966. This FW17 shoe is a three-way collab with New York artist Andres Serrano, reproducing his 1990 Cibachrome photograph "Blood and Semen II" across the quarter panels; Serrano made the work during the AIDS crisis for a fundraising portfolio. The Supreme version keeps the standard black-suede Sk8-Hi silhouette and prints the artwork on the sides. It retailed for $110 against $75 for a stock Sk8-Hi.
About Vans
