Supreme vs. Original

About the original
The Vans Era was introduced in 1976 as the first shoe designed specifically for skateboarding, created with input from Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta and built on a vulcanized waffle sole with a padded collar; both features are intended to absorb impact and protect the ankle on a skateboard. Vans was founded in Anaheim, California in 1966 by Paul Van Doren as the Van Doren Rubber Company. The Skate Era update retains the canvas and suede upper but adds DURACAP underlay reinforcement at high-wear zones and a PopCush sockliner, retailing for $65. The SS23 Supreme collab covers the canvas in an all-over US dollar-bill print, keeps the vulcanized construction, and released June 1, 2023 at $98 in green and black colorways.
