About the original
The Vans Half Cab is a mid-top skate shoe Vans built with Steve Caballero in 1992, cutting down his original Caballero high-top after skaters kept sawing the ankles off for better board feel. Vans has made vulcanized waffle-outsole shoes in Southern California since 1966; the Pro version adds a Duracap rubber underlay and an UltraCush sockliner to the padded suede-and-canvas build. The Fall/Winter 2020 Supreme release wraps the Half Cab Pro in an all-over repeating "Supreme" text print across the suede, retains the "Half Cab '92" heel patch and black vulcanized foxing, and shipped in blue, white, and black at $110. The standard Half Cab Pro sells for about $85 in solid suede.
