JBL is an American audio company founded on October 1, 1946, by James Bullough Lansing in Los Angeles, California. Lansing, who had previously co-founded Altec Lansing, named the new firm with his initials and released the D130 15-inch transducer as its first original product, a design that remained in production for 55 years. The L100 bookshelf speaker, introduced in 1970, sold over 125,000 pairs and became one of the best-selling loudspeakers in history. JBL is now a Harman subsidiary and produces studio monitors, portable Bluetooth speakers, and headphones. Supreme's JBL collaboration was based on the brand's portable speaker line.
