About the original

Mechanix Wear was founded in 1989 in Valencia, California by Mike Hale to outfit IndyCar pit crews, and The Original (model MG-05) has been the company's signature glove for over thirty years. The base glove uses a 0.8mm synthetic leather palm with a welded Lock Ring thumb panel, a CoolPlus woven-mesh back for ventilation, and a TPR hook-and-loop cuff closure, and is machine washable and touchscreen capable. The Supreme SS25 collaboration with Aphex Twin (Richard D. James, the Cornish electronic producer behind Selected Ambient Works and Drukqs) prints his trademark grinning face across the back of each hand on the standard MG-05 silhouette, with a red Supreme tag at the cuff.

About Mechanix Wear

Mechanix Wear is an American glove manufacturer founded in 1991 by Michael Hale in Valencia, California. The Original work glove debuted that same year on the Richard Childress Racing #3 GM Goodwrench pit crew at the Daytona 500, introducing a synthetic-leather palm and TPR closure for hot-engine work without the bulk of leather. The company expanded into military and tactical lines and became standard issue for U.S. service members during the Iraq and Afghanistan deployments. Mechanix acquired workwear maker Kinco in 2025. Supreme has collaborated with Mechanix on the Original work glove, a leather work glove, and IRAK and Aphex Twin co-branded versions.
