About the original

The Mechanix Wear Leather Original (model LMG-75) is a genuine-leather-palmed work glove built on Mechanix Durahide leather with a TrekDry spandex back, TPR hook-and-loop cuff, and reinforced pinched fingertip construction for dexterity on hand tools. Mechanix Wear was founded in 1991 by Jim Hale in Valencia, California to give NASCAR pit crews a glove that protected against hot engines without sacrificing feel. The Leather Original is a catalog-staple variant of the original 1991 Mechanix fabric glove, adding a real leather palm for abrasion resistance and wider use across military, trades, and automotive work. The SS24 Supreme version is built on the same LMG-75 pattern with a black-on-black leather palm and an all-over debossed Supreme logo print across the spandex back.

About Mechanix Wear

Mechanix Wear is an American glove manufacturer founded in 1991 by Michael Hale in Valencia, California. The Original work glove debuted that same year on the Richard Childress Racing #3 GM Goodwrench pit crew at the Daytona 500, introducing a synthetic-leather palm and TPR closure for hot-engine work without the bulk of leather. The company expanded into military and tactical lines and became standard issue for U.S. service members during the Iraq and Afghanistan deployments. Mechanix acquired workwear maker Kinco in 2025. Supreme has collaborated with Mechanix on the Original work glove, a leather work glove, and IRAK and Aphex Twin co-branded versions.
