About the original

The Spalding size-7 composite basketball is a 29.5-inch indoor/outdoor ball with a composite-leather cover and deep channel design. Spalding has produced basketballs since 1894, when the company supplied the ball for the first collegiate game at Yale, and it was the official ball of the NBA from 1983 through 2021. Bernadette Corporation is a New York art collective founded in 1993 by Bernadette Van-Huy, Antek Walczak, and John Kelsey; their output includes a mid-1990s runway collection, the film Get Rid of Yourself, and the novel Reena Spaulings. The SS2023 three-way Supreme version uses an iridescent composite Spalding with debossed Bernadette Corporation text and a box logo. Released May 18, 2023 at $118.

About Spalding

Spalding is an American sporting goods manufacturer founded in 1876 by Albert Goodwill Spalding and his brother J. Walter Spalding in Chicago. Albert Spalding was a pitcher and co-founder of the National League, and the company supplied the league's official baseball from 1876 to 1976. Spalding also produced the official NBA game ball from 1983 to 2021 and the official WNBA ball for much of that period. Its product line includes basketballs, footballs, volleyballs, and backboards, with the pink Spaldeen rubber ball a longstanding New York street-game fixture. Supreme has collaborated with Spalding on co-branded basketballs and equipment.
