Overtop Goggles

About the original

The Overtop is an oversized ski goggle designed to fit over prescription eyewear, with a double-lens anti-fog system, adjustable elastic strap, and vented foam seal. Carrera was founded in Traun, Austria in 1956 by Wilhelm Anger and named after the Carrera Panamericana auto race. In 1964 Anger patented Optyl, a heat-hardened plastic 20% lighter than acetate that became the brand's signature material. Carrera supplied eyewear to alpine racers and Formula 1 drivers through the 1960s and 70s and was acquired by Italy's Safilo Group in 1996. The Overtop model is sold through Supreme as a collaboration release; Carrera does not currently list an "Overtop" product under that name in its own catalog. Released in Fall/Winter 2021.

About Carrera

Carrera is an Austrian eyewear maker founded in 1956 by Wilhelm Anger in Traun, Austria, and now headquartered in Padua, Italy. The brand was named for the Carrera Panamericana road race. In 1964, Anger patented Optyl, a heat-cured plastic 20% lighter than acetate with a memory-effect fit, used across the line ever since. Carrera built the Carrera Porsche Design sunglass collection with Ferdinand Alexander Porsche in the 1970s and sponsored Formula 1, the America's Cup, and the 1988 Winter Olympics. Safilo Group acquired Carrera in 1996. Supreme has collaborated with Carrera on sunglasses including the Boxer and Brow Bar frames.
