Original — Kermit Chair Company
Classic Oak Chair
About the original
The Kermit Chair is a packable wooden camp chair designed in 1984 by BMW motorcyclist Kermit Easterling, who wanted a folding seat light enough to strap to a bike and sturdy enough for long nights around a campfire. Each chair is handcrafted in Tennessee from locally-sourced oak or walnut, aluminum hardware, and 1000-denier coated nylon, and disassembles to 22 x 6 inches at 5.5 pounds with a 350-pound capacity. Supreme's Spring/Summer 2023 version is the standard Classic chair in a multicolor nylon print. The Kermit Chair Company has been making them by hand since Easterling passed the business to Tom Sherrill in 2003, now operating out of three family-run facilities outside Nashville.
About Kermit Chair Company
Kermit Chair Company is an American camp-furniture maker founded in 1984 by BMW motorcyclist Kermit Easterling, who designed the original chair to pack onto a motorcycle. The frame uses Tennessee-sourced white oak with marine-grade polyurethane, aluminum and stainless steel hardware, and a 1000D coated nylon seat; folded, the whole thing fits in a 22-by-6-inch bag. Tom Sherrill bought the company in 2003 and moved production to three family-run shops outside Nashville, Tennessee, where every chair is still assembled by hand. Supreme has collaborated with Kermit Chair Company on a co-branded version of the Classic Chair.
