Supreme x Royal Delft Hand-Painted 190 Bowery Plate
Supreme vs. Original

About the original
De Porceleyne Fles, trading as Royal Delft, has hand-painted blue-and-white earthenware in Delft, Netherlands since 1653 — the only 17th-century Delft factory still in continuous operation. The SS2021 Supreme collaboration is a 16-by-10 inch octagonal plate hand-painted in cobalt on tin-glaze following the traditional Delftware process, with a standard Royal Delft floral border wrapping a custom central scene of Supreme's 190 Bowery New York flagship. Produced in an edition of 150, each piece is numbered on the reverse and co-signed by the artisan. The plate retailed for $3,998 and released May 27, 2021.
About Royal Delft
Royal Delft is a Dutch pottery manufacturer founded in 1653 by David Anthonisz van der Pieth as De Porceleyne Fles in Delft, Netherlands. It is the only one of the thirty-two Delftware factories established in the city during the seventeenth century still in operation. The factory's hand-painted blue-and-white earthenware was developed to compete with Chinese porcelain imported by the Dutch East India Company. Joost Thooft acquired the factory in 1876 and revived production, and the Dutch Royal House granted the Koninklijk designation in 1919. Supreme has collaborated with Royal Delft on co-branded hand-painted ceramics.
