The Smith Cariboo OTG is an over-the-glass ski goggle from Smith Optics, founded by Dr. Bob Smith in 1965 in Sun Valley, Idaho, where he developed the first sealed thermal lens with breathable foam to prevent fogging. Smith Optics is an American eyewear manufacturer founded in 1965 by Dr. Bob Smith in Sun Valley, Idaho. An orthodontist and skier, Smith built the first sealed thermal-lens ski goggle with breathable vent foam at his kitchen table in Utah using dental tools, foam, and glue, and traded early pairs for lift tickets at Alta.
