About the original

The Smith Cariboo OTG is an over-the-glass ski goggle from Smith Optics, founded by Dr. Bob Smith in 1965 in Sun Valley, Idaho, where he developed the first sealed thermal lens with breathable foam to prevent fogging. The Cariboo OTG uses a teardrop frame sized to fit over prescription eyewear, with a dual-pane anti-fog lens, compression-molded face foam, and Airflow side vents to pull warm air out of the chamber. The current retail price is $58, and the classic matte black with RC36 rose-copper lens remains the default configuration. Supreme's FW15 version is the same frame and foam, issued in black, blue, and red with a Supreme-logo strap, priced at $68.

About Smith Optics

Smith Optics is an American eyewear manufacturer founded in 1965 by Dr. Bob Smith in Sun Valley, Idaho. An orthodontist and skier, Smith built the first sealed thermal-lens ski goggle with breathable vent foam at his kitchen table in Utah using dental tools, foam, and glue, and traded early pairs for lift tickets at Alta. By 1970 the company was the largest ski goggle manufacturer in the United States. The line later expanded with the Slider sport sunglasses, V3 goggles in 1995, ski helmets in 2006, and ChromaPop lenses in 2013. Supreme collaborated with Smith Optics on co-branded snow goggles.
