About the original

Stone Island was founded by Massimo Osti in Ravarino, Italy in 1982 and developed its reputation through Centro Ricerche, the in-house R&D lab that engineers the brand's technical fabrics and garment-dyeing processes. Poly Cover Composite is one of those fabrics: a polyester shell heat-bonded to a reflective metallic backing, built to block wind and water while scattering light off the surface, and finished with a translucent outer face that lets the inner color show through. Each piece carries the brand's removable left-sleeve compass-rose patch, introduced in 1983. This FW17 pullover anorak uses the fabric in four translucent colorways, each finished with a tonal Supreme/Stone Island compass patch on the back.

About Stone Island

Stone Island is an Italian sportswear label founded in 1982 by Massimo Osti in Ravarino, near Modena. The brand is known for experimental textile research, including garment-dyed pieces, reflective fabrics, thermosensitive Ice Jackets, and the Tela Stella material developed from truck tarpaulin. Every piece carries the detachable compass-rose badge buttoned to the left sleeve. Carlo Rivetti's Sportswear Company has operated the brand since 1983, and Moncler Group acquired a controlling stake in 2020. Stone Island has a long association with English football casual and terrace culture alongside its streetwear following. Supreme has collaborated with Stone Island on co-branded outerwear and knitwear.
