About the original
Burberry is a British luxury fashion house founded by Thomas Burberry in Basingstoke, England in 1856, known for inventing gabardine in 1879 and for the trench coat developed for British officers in the First World War. The beige, black, red, and white Burberry check was introduced as a trench lining in the 1920s and trademarked as a signifier pattern in the late 20th century. The SS22 Supreme collab skateboard deck applies the Burberry check across a seven-ply natural-maple board with a black top ply, screenprinted in the pattern with co-branded graphics near the nose.

The company supplied outerwear to polar explorers including Fridtjof Nansen and Ernest Shackleton, and developed the trench coat for British officers in World War I. The Burberry check, introduced as a coat lining in the 1920s, became one of the most recognized patterns in fashion. The label remains publicly listed on the London Stock Exchange. Supreme collaborated with Burberry on a full collection in 2022.
