About the original
SOG Specialty Knives & Tools was founded in Lynnwood, Washington in 1986 by designer Spencer Frazer, who named the company after the MACV-SOG special operations unit that used a custom Bowie knife during the Vietnam War. The F08-N Entrenching Tool is an 18.25-inch carbon-steel three-fold shovel with a serrated saw edge, integrated pick, and nylon belt sheath, following the basic tri-fold pattern the US military has issued since the 1950s. It folds to a roughly 9-inch packable length and weighs around 24 ounces. The FW2017 Supreme version is the production F08-N refinished in red powder coat with a co-branded sheath, released September 14, 2017 at $38.

SOG Specialty Knives is an American knife and multi-tool manufacturer founded in 1986 by Spencer and Gloria Frazer in Santa Monica, California.
