Original — SOG
Hand Axe (SHAX) F09N-CP
About the original
The SOG Hand Axe (SHAX) F09N-CP is a compact 11.1-inch hatchet with a 2.4-inch 420 stainless steel blade, a hardcased black finish, and a G10 non-slip handle, shipped with a nylon belt sheath. SOG Specialty Knives & Tools was founded in Lynnwood, Washington in 1986 by Spencer Frazer, who launched the brand with a commemorative of the SOG Bowie knife carried by the Vietnam-era MACV-SOG special operations group. The company's name and origin story trace directly to that reference. The SHAX sits in SOG's compact-axe line and retails around $25. The SS18 Supreme collab version is the same axe with a co-branded sheath, released at $78.
About SOG
SOG Specialty Knives is an American knife and multi-tool manufacturer founded in 1986 by Spencer and Gloria Frazer in Santa Monica, California. Frazer, a UCLA-trained designer, launched the company from his apartment with the S1 Bowie, a reproduction of the knife carried by the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MACV-SOG), the unit the company is named for. SOG's product range covers fixed-blade and folding knives, the PowerLock and PowerAssist multi-tools, and tactical hatchets, sold to military, law enforcement, and outdoor markets. Supreme released a co-branded SOG Trident folding knife for Spring/Summer 2017.
