5.5 Qt Cocotte (Dutch Oven)
About the original
The Staub Round Cocotte is a 5.5-quart enameled cast iron Dutch oven handmade in Turckheim, Alsace, France, oven safe to 500°F with a self-basting lid whose interior spikes recirculate moisture back onto food during cooking. Staub was founded in 1974 by Francis Staub in Alsace and was acquired by Zwilling J.A. Henckels in 2008; production has remained at the original Turckheim foundry. The Cocotte is its flagship product, used in professional kitchens for its heat retention and no-seasoning-required matte black enamel interior, which Staub patented and markets under the name Black Matte. The 5.5-quart round model weighs roughly 13 pounds and serves four to six. The collab version features embossed Supreme logos on the lid.
