The Hornet 1/10 RC Off-Road Racer Kit (58336)
About the original
The Tamiya Hornet (kit no. 58336) is a 1/10-scale two-wheel-drive off-road RC buggy first released in 1984, featuring a rear-mounted 540-class brushed motor, trailing-arm independent front suspension, a solid rear axle, and a lightweight polycarbonate body shell. Tamiya, founded in Shizuoka, Japan in 1946 and entering the RC market in 1976, has kept the Hornet in near-continuous production for over 40 years, making it one of the longest-running RC car kits in history. The kit is sold unassembled and requires the builder to paint the body, solder the speed control, and glue decals. The FW2018 Supreme collab releases the Hornet with a pre-painted red body and Supreme decals for $278.
About Tamiya
Tamiya is a Japanese model-kit manufacturer founded in 1946 by Yoshio Tamiya in Shizuoka City as Tamiya Shoji & Co., originally a sawmill and lumber supplier. The company began producing wooden ship and aircraft models in 1947 and shifted entirely to model-making by 1953. Its first plastic kit, a 1/800 Yamato battleship, launched in 1959. Tamiya is known for 1/35 scale military models, 1/24 scale cars, the Mini 4WD line, and radio-control buggies including the 1979 Rough Rider. Shizuoka remains the home of Japan's plastic-model industry. Supreme has collaborated with Tamiya on co-branded RC vehicles and accessories.
